Bunbo Privacy Policy

Bunbo is a free app for learning Vietnamese, made by an independent developer ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. In short: we only keep what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and there are no ads or tracking.
What we collect
Account information, when you sign up:
- your email address (to sign in, confirm your account and reset your password)
- your password, stored only in encrypted (hashed) form. We can never see it.
- the username you choose
Learning data, created as you use the app:
- which words you have studied, your quiz answers and review history, and when each word is due again
- words you mark as already known
- your rewards: fish earned, streak and growth of your study buddy
Friends, if you use them:
- friend requests and friendships
- quizzes you send to or receive from friends, and the answers
Settings saved with your account: your accent choice, study buddy, time zone (so days and streaks match your local time) and whether you appear on the global leaderboard.
Settings kept only on your device (never sent to us): app language, font, sound auto-play, daily reminder and word notification settings. Reminders and word notifications are created on your phone; they do not go through our servers.
What we do not collect
- no advertising, no ad IDs and no tracking across other apps or websites
- no analytics or crash-reporting tools
- no location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone
- no payment information (Bunbo is free)
How we use it
- to run your account and keep your progress across devices
- to schedule reviews, count fish and streaks, and show leaderboards
- to let you and your friends see each other's progress and send quizzes
- to send account emails: sign-up codes and password-reset codes. We do not send newsletters or marketing.
What other people can see
- Friends can see your username, study buddy, fish, streak and progress totals (how many words you are learning, reviewing or know), and which words you have started (so they can send you a quiz).
- Everyone using Bunbo can see your username, study buddy and fish on the global leaderboard. You can turn this off in Settings > Leaderboard.
- Other users can find you by your exact username to send a friend request. Your email address is never shown to other users.
Services we use
We share data only with the services that run the app, and only as much as they need:
- Supabase hosts our database, accounts and pictures. Your account and learning data are stored there. Their servers may be in a different country from yours.
- Google (Gmail) delivers our account emails, so it handles your email address and the code we send.
- Your phone's text-to-speech voice reads Vietnamese words aloud. On some Android phones, Google's speech service may process the word being read (for example, "xin chào") on its servers. Only the word is sent, nothing about you.
We never sell or rent your information and do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, progress, rewards, friendships and quizzes are deleted from our database. Copies in service-provider backups are removed within 30 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all its data at any time:
- in the app: Settings > Account > Delete account, or
- by emailing us at bunbo.app@gmail.com from the email address on your account. We will delete it within 30 days and confirm by email.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it, by emailing bunbo.app@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law (for example, in the EU, UK, Korea or California); we will respect them.
Security
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database rules make sure each person can only read and change their own data, plus what friends are allowed to see. No system is perfect, but we keep what we store to a minimum.
Children
Bunbo is not directed at children under 13 (under 14 in Korea), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe such a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.

Bunbo는 개인 개발자가 만든 무료 베트남어 학습 앱이에요. 이 방침은 앱이 어떤 정보를 왜 수집하는지, 그리고 여러분이 무엇을 할 수 있는지 설명해요. 요약하면: 앱이 작동하는 데 필요한 정보만 보관하고, 개인정보를 절대 판매하지 않으며, 광고나 추적이 없어요.
수집하는 정보
계정 정보 (가입할 때):
- 이메일 주소 (로그인, 계정 인증, 비밀번호 재설정용)
- 비밀번호: 암호화(해시)된 형태로만 저장되며, 저희도 볼 수 없어요.
- 직접 정한 사용자 이름
학습 데이터 (앱을 사용하면서 생성):
- 공부한 단어, 퀴즈 답과 복습 기록, 각 단어의 다음 복습 시기
- 이미 알고 있다고 표시한 단어
- 보상 기록: 모은 먹이, 연속 학습 기록, 공부 친구의 성장 단계
친구 기능 (사용하는 경우):
- 친구 요청과 친구 관계
- 친구와 주고받은 퀴즈와 답
계정에 저장되는 설정: 발음 억양, 공부 친구, 시간대(하루와 연속 기록을 현지 시간에 맞추기 위해), 전체 순위표 표시 여부.
기기에만 저장되는 설정 (서버로 보내지 않음): 앱 언어, 글꼴, 소리 자동 재생, 학습 알림과 단어 알림 설정. 알림은 휴대폰에서 직접 만들어지며 저희 서버를 거치지 않아요.
수집하지 않는 정보
- 광고, 광고 ID, 다른 앱이나 웹사이트에서의 추적 없음
- 분석 도구나 오류 보고 도구 없음
- 위치, 연락처, 사진, 카메라, 마이크 정보 없음
- 결제 정보 없음 (Bunbo는 무료예요)
정보의 이용 목적
- 계정을 운영하고 여러 기기에서 학습 기록을 유지하기 위해
- 복습 일정을 정하고, 먹이와 연속 기록을 세고, 순위표를 보여 주기 위해
- 친구끼리 학습 현황을 보고 퀴즈를 보낼 수 있게 하기 위해
- 계정 관련 이메일(가입 인증 코드, 비밀번호 재설정 코드)을 보내기 위해. 뉴스레터나 광고 메일은 보내지 않아요.
다른 사람에게 보이는 정보
- 친구는 사용자 이름, 공부 친구, 먹이, 연속 기록, 학습 현황(배우는 중 / 복습 중 / 아는 단어 수), 그리고 퀴즈를 보낼 수 있도록 시작한 단어 목록을 볼 수 있어요.
- 모든 Bunbo 사용자는 전체 순위표에서 사용자 이름, 공부 친구, 먹이를 볼 수 있어요. 설정 > 순위표에서 끌 수 있어요.
- 다른 사용자는 정확한 사용자 이름으로 여러분을 찾아 친구 요청을 보낼 수 있어요. 이메일 주소는 다른 사용자에게 절대 보이지 않아요.
이용하는 외부 서비스
앱 운영에 필요한 서비스와만, 필요한 만큼만 정보를 공유해요:
- Supabase: 데이터베이스, 계정, 그림을 보관해요. 계정과 학습 데이터가 여기에 저장되며, 서버가 여러분과 다른 나라에 있을 수 있어요.
- Google (Gmail): 계정 이메일을 보내요. 이메일 주소와 보내는 코드를 처리해요.
- 휴대폰의 음성 읽기(TTS) 기능: 베트남어 단어를 소리 내어 읽어요. 일부 안드로이드 휴대폰에서는 Google 음성 서비스가 읽는 단어(예: "xin chào")를 서버에서 처리할 수 있어요. 단어만 전송되고, 여러분에 대한 정보는 보내지 않아요.
개인정보를 판매하거나 대여하지 않으며, 광고 목적으로 공유하지 않아요.
보관 기간
계정이 있는 동안 정보를 보관해요. 계정을 삭제하면 프로필, 학습 기록, 보상, 친구 관계, 퀴즈가 데이터베이스에서 삭제돼요. 서비스 제공업체의 백업에 남은 사본은 30일 이내에 삭제돼요.
계정 삭제
언제든지 계정과 모든 데이터를 삭제할 수 있어요:
- 앱에서: 설정 > 계정 > 계정 삭제, 또는
- 계정에 등록된 이메일 주소로 bunbo.app@gmail.com에 메일을 보내 주세요. 30일 이내에 삭제하고 이메일로 알려 드려요.
이용자의 권리
bunbo.app@gmail.com으로 연락하시면 내 정보의 사본을 요청하거나, 정정 또는 삭제를 요청할 수 있어요. 거주 지역(예: 한국, EU, 영국, 캘리포니아)의 법에 따라 추가 권리가 있을 수 있으며, 이를 존중해요.
보안
앱과 서버 사이의 데이터는 암호화된 연결(HTTPS)로 전송돼요. 데이터베이스 규칙에 따라 각 사용자는 자신의 데이터와 친구에게 허용된 정보만 읽고 바꿀 수 있어요. 완벽한 시스템은 없지만, 저장하는 정보를 최소한으로 유지해요.
아동
Bunbo는 만 14세 미만 아동을 대상으로 하지 않으며, 아동의 정보를 알면서 수집하지 않아요. 만 14세 미만 아동이 계정을 만든 것 같다면 이메일로 알려 주세요. 삭제해 드릴게요.
방침의 변경
이 방침을 바꾸면 위의 날짜를 업데이트하고, 중요한 변경은 앱에서 알려 드려요.
